World Cup 2022 – How to prepare your bets

With just five days to go until the 2022 World Cup kicks off, football lovers are counting down the days until the tournament kicks off with the first game between Qatar and Ecuador on Sunday.

Now, how tournament football is played is very different from how the familiar domestic leagues are played, which means the way you place your bets also needs to change if you want to continue winning.

Luckily, we have you covered and have come up with a quick guide on how to prepare your World Cup bets. Enjoy!

Always bet on Brazil

World Cup 2022 Preview: Why Brazil are the ones to watch at Qatar

The wear and tear of a gruelling domestic season will cause problems at the World Cup, especially as the tournament begins just a week after top-level club football stopped.

With such little time to rest, the contenders will be stretched the further into the competition they go, especially as their best players have been so instrumental at club level. When fatigue becomes a factor, the quality of substitute players ready to come on will be a huge advantage for countries with a deep bench.

Brazil has an embarrassment of riches to call on so if any of the expected front three of Vinicius Junior- Richarlison – Raphinha is out for whatever reason, they can call on replacements like Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and Antony.

In goal, Ederson can replace Alisson with few issues, Fabinho can step in for the excellent Casemiro and the squad can be reconfigured to play without talisman, Neymar.

The record holders are favorites to win the World Cup @ 4.50 and for good reason. Place your bets early to ensure that the odds are still high enough to land you substantial wins!

Bet on Lionel Messi

Happy Birthday Messi: Lionel Messi finally 'smiled' on his birthday after facing debacle in FIFA World Cup; here's why | Catch News

It’s going to be an interesting World Cup for Argentina and Lionel Messi. Unshackled from any defensive responsibilities in Lionel Scaloni’s setup, the legendary No. 10 is poised to have his best World Cup yet.

With 28 G+A in 18 games for PSG already this season, he enters the World Cup in the best of conditions: serene and in good form, unlike archrival, Cristiano Ronaldo who has come into the World Cup in poor form and with a cloud hanging over his head after his explosive interview.

If he can inspire Argentina to a World Cup win, Lionel Messi will finally be seen by his countrymen as a legend on par, or even superior to the late Diego Maradona.

In this kind of form, can you really bet against him doing just that?

Bet on the early rounds

Something you’ll sometimes hear before international tournaments – wait for the first round of matches to finish before placing your bets so you can observe the lay of the land first.

However, that’s also the time when the betting experts have not gotten the chance to observe the teams playing in that unique tournament atmosphere, so the odds are usually higher than they should be. On an accumulator, these odds can lead to price changes of millions.

Win in the early matchdays by betting on the tournament favorites, the players that have been good in the early part of the domestic season, contenders with several players who are teammates at club level and Brazil, of course.

Defense >> attack

Who Wins The “Serie A” League: Attack Vs Defence | by Angelo Faella | Towards Data Science

The last defender to win the Ballon d’Or was Fabio Cannavaro whose World Cup exploits propelled him to the historic award. In the 16 years since then, the Ballon d’Or and FIFA Player of the Year awards have been dominated by attackers (and two midfield players).

Going into this World Cup, attacking players are poised to take all the plaudits once again as they score/assist the goals that will propel their countries to wins. However, the unsung work defenders do is arguably more important, especially in a World Cup where a clean sheet means the job (progression to the next stage) is almost done.

Some teams have elite defences but middling attacks (Netherlands) while others have average defenders but elite attackers (England). The teams best-placed for success in Qatar will be those that have elite defenders to defend the spaces left behind by their world-class attackers.

And who knows? Maybe this World Cup will propel another defender to Ballon d’Or glory.

Pay close attention to the injury report & wait until late to place your bets

It’s inevitable, players will succumb to the wear and tear of the domestic campaign, added to that of the World Cup at some point. When this happens, you need to be ready. In a game between Belgium and France for example, a late Kevin De Bruyne injury will dramatically reduce the likelihood of Belgium to get a positive result and increase the odds.

Waiting until late to place your bets, just like you’d do with FPL assets, might save your accas from being prematurely tanked.

A team outside the five favorites is unlikely to win the World Cup but upsets are still bound to happen at some point during the tournament. Betting on dark horses can be very dicey (there’s a reason they’re unfancied dark horses after all) but incredibly rewarding when got right.

Teams with a legitimate chance of punching above their weight at this World Cup include: Switzerland, Senegal and Uruguay.

Keep an eye out for the form of the dark horses and reap the benefits when they stun better teams with BetKing!
