Sunday Betting Tips & Previews
Sunday Football preview, just 7 days separate the final Premier League game on Sunday and the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Fulham vs Man United
Manchester United will try to correct course after a 3-1 loss to Aston Villa last weekend ended their run of nine unbeaten matches in all competitions. They travel to West London to play newly promoted Fulham, a team that has been much better than the last three times they were in the Premier League.
Fulham are in ninth place on the table with 19 points from 14 matches. The Cottagers have five wins, four draws and five defeats in the league and have the same goal difference as Manchester United despite being four places below the Red Devils.
Before last week’s loss to Manchester City, Fulham had been on an unbeaten run of four games with victories against Aston Villa and Leeds and draws against Everton and Bournemouth.
However, their major weakness this season has been at the back, they have the fourth-worst defensive record in the league this season. Erik Ten Hag will be looking to exploit that backline when they play on Sunday.
In 30 attempts, Fulham have only beaten Manchester United three times and got their last Premier League victory over United in December 2009. Manchester United have won 21 times and six of the meetings have ended in a draw.
Fulham will be without their top goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, with the Serbian out with a foot injury despite being named in the Serbian World Cup squad.
For Man United, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antony are doubts for the trip, while Diogo Dalot is suspended, meaning Tyrell Malacia should come in at right-back.
Manchester United will have a difficult evening at Craven Cottage but showed a lot of fight in their EFL victory over Aston Villa, they should take that confidence into the clash and get all three points against a weakened Fulham team.
- Manchester United to win or draw @ 1.25
- Both sides to score @ 1.55
- Over 8.5 corners @ 1.42
Atalanta vs Inter Milan
Atalanta and Inter Milan are tied on points in the Serie A with only goal difference separating the two sides. They play a crucial fixture on Sunday before the Serie A takes a break till next year.
Midweek, Atalanta surprisingly lost to Lecce, while Inter came from a goal down to wallop Bologna 6-1.
Gasperini’s team have struggled at home against the bigger Serie A teams, They lost to both Lazio and Napoli at the Gewiss Stadium and could suffer three consecutive league defeats at home for the first time since 1997
This is even more worrying for Atalanta considering Inter Milan have a good record against Atalanta and have won 20 of the last 40 matches played between the two teams, against Atalanta’s seven wins.
Inter Milan are in better form at the moment and come off an impressive performance against Bologna.
- Inter Milan win @ 2.28
- Under 3.5 goals @ 1.47
Roma vs Torino
Roma have picked up just one point from their last two matches and are looking to get all three points from the last Serie A fixture before the World Cup when they take on Torino.
Ninth-placed Torino are only two points behind Roma and moved closer to the Capital side with a comfortable win 2-0 against Sampdoria midweek.
Roma are two places above in seventh but have had a poor run of results after getting off to a fine start earlier in the season.
Jose Mourinho’s side played a 1-1 stalemate with Sassuolo in their previous game and had lost to Lazio in the game before. The clash against Torino is a must-win for Roma if they are going to stay within touching distance of the top of the table.
Sunday’s match presents a great opportunity to do so. Roma have won 15 of their last 17 matches at home against Torino in the Serie A, with the previous draw between the two teams at Stadio Olimpico coming in 1995.
Torino have struggled away from home, with their win at Udinese their only away win since September. This streak does not bode well for them as they take on a Roma side that will be desperate to seal all three points
- Roma to win @ 1.94
- Total bookings over 4.5 @ 1.35
AC Milan vs Fiorentina
Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan host Fiorentina at the San Siro on Sunday in what promises to be a blockbuster encounter.
The defending champions are third on the table and have been made to work hard to defend their title. They already find themselves eight points behind league-leaders Napoli with less than the season played.
Fiorentina have been inconsistent this season and are currently in 10th place, they did however get a slender 2-1 victory over Salernitana midweek to give them some confidence going to the San Siro.
They will need that confidence boost considering AC Milan have a good record against Fiorentina and have won 19 of the last 44 matches played between the two teams.
However, Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last three away games in the Serie A and would be a dangerous opponent for Pioli’s team.
- AC Milan to win @ 1.76
- Over 2.5 goals @ 1.88
Juventus vs Lazio
The pick of the Serie A bunch is the clash between Juventus and Lazio in Turin. Juventus have strung together some decent results lately that has seen them climb up to 5th on the table.
Juventus have won five successive matches with a victory over Inter Milan coming last weekend, they followed that up with a win over Verona and have not conceded a goal in the league since the start of October.
Juventus have also won three consecutive away fixtures without conceding a goal for the first time since 2018 and now play at home where they have won their last three Serie A matches by an aggregate score of 9-0.
Lazio have been in excellent form too. They followed their victory in the Derby della Capitale with a win against Monza on Thursday. Maurizio Sarri’s men are in second place but eight points behind the runaway leaders Napoli.
They will need to reprise their away form if they are going to take something out of the trip to Turin. Lazio have kept a clean sheet in each of their last four away matches and will need to do so if they do not want to go further adrift of the top spot.
Both teams are playing well at the moment and it should be an entertaining clash with one side barely edging it. Juventus have been the better side over the years in these clashes and have steadily improved, the advantage of playing in front of their fans should be enough for them to snatch a victory.
- Juventus win @ 2.05
- Under 2.5 goals @ 1.81
Mainz vs Frankfurt
FSV Mainz host Eintracht Frankfurt at the MEWA Arena on Sunday with the hosts currently in 11th place and have blown hot and cold this Bundesliga season.
Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, are in fourth place in the league table and were victorious away at Hoffenheim last time.
The 34 matches between the two teams have been evenly balanced with Eintracht Frankfurt holding a slight advantage over the years. Frankfurt have won 11 games to Mainz’s 10, with 12 matches ending in a draw.
However, Mainz have lost only one of their 14 home games against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, that loss came in a 2-0 loss in January 2021, but have managed only six points from their seven home games in the Bundesliga this season.
Eintracht Frankfurt have punched above their weight this season and should be able to get the win at Mainz as they continue their quest of finishing in a European spot.
- Frankfurt win @ 2.43
- Frankfurt to win either halves @ 1.71
Freiburg vs Union Berlin
It is a battle of third against second when Freiburg welcome Union Berlin to the Europa-Park Stadion.
Freiburg lost for the first time in four games in midweek, when in-form RB Leipzig got a 3-1 victory, while Union have picked up one point from their last two games and are now four points behind Bayern Munich after setting the pace earlier in the season.
After a 5-0 thumping against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, they played out a 2-2 draw by Augsburg in midweek.
Freiburg and Union have met 12 times across competitions. Freiburg have won five of those encounters, while Union have won four, with three games ending in draws.
However, Berlin have won their last two league games at Freiburg and are unbeaten in their last four games against them. This clash will be the test of two teams that are solid in defense, both teams have the joint-second-best defensive record in the Bundesliga.
- Draw @ 3.25
- Under 3.5 goals @ 1.27
Monaco vs Marseille
Only goal difference separates Monaco who are in fifth place in the Ligue 1 standings and fourth-placed Marseille.
Phillipe Clement’s Monaco side have had an up and down season, following their 2-0 win at Toulouse last weekend, they are now unbeaten in four matches in all competitions. This stopped a slide of poor results when they lost at home to Lens and Troyes and conceded 4 goals in both matches.
Marseille have a slight edge over AS Monaco and have won 20 of the last 49 matches played between the two teams, as opposed to AS Monaco’s 19 victories.
After a winless run of five matches against Marseille in Ligue 1, AS Monaco have won two of their last three matches against Marseille.
However, Marseille had been unbeaten in their first nine matches of the season but have now lost three of their last five Ligue 1 matches. They are also winless in their last three away matches and will need to find a way to end that streak against a Monaco team that are playing very well right now.
- Monaco win @ 2.38
- Monaco win or draw @ 1.40
PSG vs Auxerre
PSG are still unbeaten in Ligue 1 and have opened up a five-point gap over Lens who are in second. Auxerre, on the other hand, are down in 15th place and have won only one of their last 5 league matches.
Paris Saint-Germain will be looking for a seventh consecutive win in all competitions and should do so against an Auxerre team they usually do well against.
PSG have won 13 out of the 31 matches played between the two teams, and are unbeaten in their last 30 home games against newly-promoted sides in the Ligue 1.
Lionel Messi should return for this fixture after being pictured in training. The Argentine forward had missed time due to an inflamed Achilles tendon and will be looking to pile on the misery for an Auxerre side that have the third-worst goal difference in the league.
Christophe Galtier’s PSG should have a comfortable outing against Auxerre and will be aiming to consolidate their position at the top of the table.
- PSG win @ 1.14
- Over 3.5 goals @ 1.70
Lille vs Angers
Lille host Angers on Sunday with a chance to get back to winning ways after failing to get a win in their last two Ligue 1 matches.
Angers are bottom of the league and have lost 10 of the 14 matches played this season and are on a run of six successive losses.
Lille are currently sitting in seventh place in the table and will welcome the visit of Angers considering results between the two teams have favoured Lille.
Lille have won three of their last six meetings with Angers while losing just one. Also, Angers have picked up only eight points from 14 matches and there are calls for the sacking of coach Gerald Baticle. This isn’t surprising as Angers have the worst defense in Ligue 1 and have conceded 33 goals scoring only 15.
Lille’s Jonathan David should be able to add to his nine-goal tally this season as he chases Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for the Ligue 1 top scorer title.
Angers have only kept two clean sheets this season and it is unlikely they will get a third on Sunday.
- Lille win @ 1.32
- Over 3.5 goals @ 2.53
