Sat Football Tips & Previews
As another weekend comes around, matches across Europe could affect what the Bundesliga table, Serie A table, La Liga table and Premier league table look like. Here are some selected football betting tips and previews of Saturday’s matches.
Manchester City vs Fulham
Once again, Manchester City will look to return to the top of the Premier League table when they play Fulham at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side want to keep up the pressure on Arsenal who they could go above with a win on Saturday.
Fulham have quickly banished any thoughts of a quick return to the Championship with an impressive Premier League campaign this time around and are in the mix for a European spot as they currently sit in seventh place on the Premier League Table.
The Cottagers are unbeaten in four Premier League matches but will need to raise their level of performance against Manchester City, a team they haven’t beaten in their last 12 attempts and have lost their last 5 meetings home and away without scoring.
After missing City’s last two games due to an ankle injury, Pep Guardiola is hopeful Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland will be back leading the attack for his side as they look to extend their run of home wins.
In their two home matches against newly-promoted teams, Manchester City scored 10 goals and kept clean sheets in both matches ( Bournemouth 4-0, Nottingham Forest 6-0). However, Fulham have been the best of the newly-promoted teams, they have accumulated 19 points from 13 matches and are unbeaten in their last four premier league matches.
While Fulham are capable of producing a shock result on Saturday, they will need to play at their best for all 90 minutes of the match. Manchester City have a couple of injury doubts, the chief of whom is Erling Haaland but have enough depth to make it a long evening for the Cottagers, and should get the win that returns them to the top of the Premier League table.
- Manchester City to win @ 1.13
- Over 2.5 goals @ 1.27
- Both teams to score @ 2.05
- Over 10.5 corners @ 1.80
Leeds vs Bournemouth
With just a point between them, Leeds United and Bournemouth are hoping for a victory that will put some distance between them and the relegation zone.
Leeds will be the more confident of the two heading into Saturday’s clash, they pulled off a surprising 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield that stopped a run of 4 straight losses and eight successive Premier League games without a win. That victory helped Leeds move out of the relegation zone and up to 15th in the Premier League table, one point behind the visiting Bournemouth who are in 14th place.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth saw Tottenham mount a 2-goal comeback to win a five-goal thriller that condemned Gary O’Neil’s team to their third successive defeat. Bournemouth had made a great start under Gary O’Neil after sacking Scott Parker in August, his Cherries team won two and drew four of his opening six Premier League games. They have since gone four games without a win and will be desperate to stop the slide towards the relegation zone that is looming.
Both Bournemouth and Leeds have not kept a clean sheet in their last five league games and with their recent defensive vulnerabilities are likely to continue the trend this Saturday
Leeds have the slight advantage in this fixture thanks to their form at home against Bournemouth. They have won all six previous matches against Bournemouth at Elland Road, scoring 14 goals in those matches. They should be able to pick a second consecutive win against the Cherries.
- Leeds to win @ 1.75
- Both teams to score @ 1.70
Everton vs Leicester
Everton welcome Leicester City to Goodison Park hoping for their first successive home win of the season. The Toffees played out a goalless draw with Fulham last time out to pick up four points from their last two matches after losing their first four matches in October.
Contrarily, Leicester City have had a decent run of results in October, their 1-0 loss to Manchester City last week was only their second loss in 7 matches and had picked up 10 points from a possible 18 to temporarily move out of the relegation zone.
However, after the 1-0 loss at home to Manchester City last weekend, they are back in 18th but could move above 12th-placed Everton with a handsome win, a significant result as the World Cup break looms.
Everton have not lost a Premier League game to Leicester City in 5 games and have not lost at home to the Foxes in 3 games.
Both sides are seeking a bounce back from last week’s games, Everton could not find the net against Fulham while Leicester succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to defending champions Manchester City.
Frank Lampard has molded his side into a solid defensive unit, only Man City, Arsenal and Newcastle have kept out fewer goals than Everton, but have struggled to score, registering blanks in three of their last four outings.
Even though Everton have only two wins from their six home matches, they can be proud of their league-best record of only four goals conceded at home and should be confident of shutting out Leicester who are yet to win a game this season in which they have conceded. This contest looks poised to end in a draw.
- Everton win @ 2.45
- Under 2.5 goals @ 1.80
- Everton clean sheet @ 3.07
Wolves v Brighton
Wolves host Brighton at the Molineux hoping for a turnaround in what has been a difficult season so far. They have won just one match in their last seven matches and are mired in the relegation battle in 19th place.
Last time out Ruben Neves canceled out Ben Mee’s acrobatic strike to earn Wolves a point, but that match was soured by Diego Costa’s red card which will cause him to miss the clash against Brighton.
Steve Davis’ team have struggled to score this season, despite conceding the fewest number of goals amongst teams in the bottom six of the table, they have scored only 6 goals all season – a Premier League’s worst of the season.
In contrasting fortunes, Brighton head to Wolverhampton boosted by a thrilling 4-1 win over former Manager Graham Potter’s Chelsea. That victory was Roberto De Zerbi’s first win as Brighton’s manager since taking charge last month.
Brighton will now attempt to turn around a poor run of away results that has seen them lose three and draw one of their last four away matches. Last season Brighton won 3-0 at Molineux, after failing to win in six Premier League games against Wolves. With Costa’s three-game suspension and Sasa Kalajdzic and Raul Jimenez both injured, either Goncalo Guedes or Hwang Hee-chan will have to lead the Wolves attack.
Leonardo Trossard has scored five goals in six games for Brighton and will lead the line for a team likely to pick up their third away win of the season.
- Brighton to win @ 2.30
- Brighton clean sheet @ 2.82
Atalanta vs Napoli
Napoli lost their unbeaten record midweek against Liverpool after going down 2-0 at Anfield but have to quickly put that behind them when they visit Atalanta in a clash of two of the top Serie A teams.
Napoli continue their pursuit of a first Serie A title in 30 years and are in good stead to do so. Napoli are unbeaten in the Serie A and sit top of the table, they head to Bergamo behind Victor Osimhen’s first Napoli hattrick which came in their 4-1 thrashing of Sassuolo at the Stadio Maradona.
However, Atalanta have had the slight advantage in their recent meetings and have lost to Napoli only once in their last 5 meetings, which came in a 3-1 loss back in April.
After suffering their first defeat of the season at home to Lazio, Atalanta bounced back with a victory over Empoli 2-0. They had the in-form Ademola Lookman to thank for that and will hope he continues in the same rich vein of form when the league leaders come visiting.
Napoli are an intimidating prospect to face for any team in Europe right now, they have scored 30 league goals in 12 matches and hold a healthy 5-point lead over the second-placed Atalanta.
While Atalanta has the second best defensive record in the Serie A, they will be faced with the league’s best attack and be looking to stop them from running away with the title midway through the season.
- Napoli to win @ 2.10
- Both teams score @ 1.55
- Over 8.5 corners @ 1.50
Hertha Berlin vs Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich go top of the Bundesliga table if they get a much-needed victory away to Hertha Berlin on Saturday.Bayern have been excellent since the international break, winning nine of their 10 matches in all competitions.
Hertha Berlin on the other hand are looking to avoid a sixth successive loss to Bayern, whom they last defeated over four years ago. A rather tall task for Hertha who are only two places above the relegation zone with just two points separating them from 16th placed Leverkusen.
Despite a decent defense, scoring has been a challenge for Hertha, with only the bottom two sides scoring less goals than them and once again failing to score in their 1-0 loss to Werder Bremen last time out.
For Bayern, what should be a straightforward victory is complicated by injuries to Leroy Sane, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller and Lucas Hernandezr, but will be excited about Eric Chuopo-Moting’s brilliant goal scoring run, the Cameroonian forward has scored seven goals in his last six matches.
Bayern should pile the woes on a Hertha Berlin side that have lacked goals this season, with the rotations made for the midweek match against Inter Milan the team should be fresh and ready to get the win that puts them top of the Bundesliga table, at least for 24 hours.
- Bayern to win @ 1.26
- Over 3.5 goals @ 1.75
- Bayern win either halves @ 1.11
Dortmund vs Bochum
Borussia Dortmund will move up to third in the Bundesliga table if they beat visiting VfL Bochum on Saturday.
Dortmund moved into the Champions League qualification places after wins against Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt, while Bochum moved one spot off the bottom of the table in recent weeks. Bochum have lost their last seven away games in the bundesliga and have the league’s worst defensive record with 32 goals conceded in 12 matches.
Interestingly, this streak of seven successive away losses comes after winning 4-3 away at Dortmund on Matchday 32 of last season.
19-year-old Jude Bellingham has been Dortmund’s best player this season, the midfielder has scored nine goals in all competitions, scoring seven times in his last 14 games. The England International sat out Wednesday’s 1-1 Champions League draw away at Copenhagen, with Edin Terzic’s side already through to the knockout stages. Bellingham should return to the starting XI with Youssoufa Moukoko, Julian Brandt and Niklas Süle also recalled.
Bochum have not earned a single point on the road all year, and will be no match for Dortmund’s talent.
- Dortmund win @ 1.26
- Over 3.5 goals @ 2.00
Barcelona vs Almeria
Barcelona welcome Almeria to Camp Nou in the wake of Gerard Pique’s unexpected retirement announcement as they attempt to keep pressure on Real Madrid at the top. Pique is one of the club’s greatest ever defenders, having joined Barca in 2008, and has made 615 appearances and scored 52 goals in all competitions for the club.
Barca are closing in quickly on Real Madrid domestically after Madrid could only manage a draw against bottom team Girona last weekend, narrowing the gap to one point at the top of LaLiga.
Against Valencia, the Catalans were made to sweat as Robert Lewandowski scored in the 93rd minute to give the Catalans their third straight victory in la liga.
Barcelona’s contest against Viktoria Plzen in the champions league was of little consequence, allowing them to rest some of their top players. Despite the rotation, they did suffer another injury to one of their players with Franck Kessie suffering a thigh injury that adds him to an injury list that includes Sergi Roberto (shoulder), Ronald Araujo (thigh) and Eric Garcia
Their match against newly promoted Almeria on Saturday at the Nou Camp provides them the chance to continue their title challenge.
Almeria can cause Xavi’s side problems going forward but will surely struggle to contain Barca’s impressive attacking options that have scored 29 goals and conceded only four goals in their 12 la liga matches so far.
- Barcelona win @ 1.10
- Over 3.5 goals @ 1.67
- Barcelona win either halves @ 1.02
