Europa League Bet Tips

With one matchday left to go after this, underperforming teams have entered ‘nothing to lose’ territory while the better teams have either already qualified or can qualify with a positive result tonight. Except Group F, of course, whose four teams all have 5 points each and can all qualify or be knocked out over the last two matchdays.

Another factor is the 3rd -best teams from the UEFA Champions League who will be dropping into the Europa League. With teams like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus among the likely drops, the final position matters more than ever because who really wants to meet a Robert Lewandowski-led Barcelona in the next round?

Read on for our preview of tonight’s Europa League games below.

PSV Eindhoven vs Arsenal FC

Easily the pick of the bunch, this game sees the two best teams in Group A go head-to-head to decide who gets to finish first in the group/qualify for the next round.

The home side lost the reverse fixture at the Emirates 1-0 and will be eager to bounce back with a win here. Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s side will also be looking nervously over their shoulders at the pursuing Bodo/Glimt team, aware that if Glimt beats a dismal FC Zurich side, they will be level on points with PSV heading into the final game.

Arsenal, on the other hand, need only a point from their last two group games to finish top of the group. The Gunners will go all out for a win here so that they can rest their key men when the final group game comes around.

Our picks

Fenerbahçe vs Rennes

It’s another top two clash over in Group B as Fenerbahçe hosts French side, Rennes in Turkey.

Both teams are level on points (10 each) and have already qualified for the next round with two games to spare. Where the issue lies is about who finishes first here.

Right now, Fenerbahçe edges the matchup with a better goal difference and will be eager to press home their home advantage tonight. The Yellow Canaries average the 2nd highest possesion stats in the Europa League this season (64.1%) and will look to dominate proceedings by keeping hold of the ball.

Rennes, on the other hand, rely heavily on crosses, evidenced by their 6th place ranking of5.8 accurate crosses per game, 19 spots above Fenerbahçe’s 2.8 crosses per game. The away side will look to remain compact, defend in numbers and break quickly. There will also be lots of crosses coming into the Fener box 18.

Our picks

HJK Helsinki vs AS Roma

Roma’s battle to remain in the Europa League continues tonight when they visit Finland to play HJK Helsinki at the Bolt Arena tonight.

HJK are Group C’s whipping boys and will be glad to come away from this one with a point or even another goal to add to their solitary goal in the EUL this season.

After last season’s UEFA Conference League win, many Roma fans expected an extended run in Europe from their team this season and secretly haboured hopes of winning the Europa League too to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Instead, the Giallorossi lie 6 points behind first-placed Real Betis and 3 behind Ludogorets.

Tonight, there can be no more mistakes. There’s still a chance for Jose Mourinho’s side to qualify for the latter stages of the Europa League if they do not drop any points tonight and hope Ludogorets loses to Betis.

Our picks

S.S Lazio vs FC Midtjylland

The Roman team will host Danish side, FC Midtjylland tonight for the fifth game in Group E this season with both sides tied at 5 points each. The whole footballing world has watched on in amazement as the four teams in Group E have danced a merry dance to each have 5 points and will not be surprised tonight if these four teams draw again to finish the matchday at 6 points apiece.

Lazio come into this one fresh off a 2-0 away win over Atalanta and will be sure they can finally win and put some daylight between themselves and the rest of the group.

Midtjylland, on the other hand, drew their last game 1-1. They will also be hoping for a win here to move to the top of the group and put themselves in a strong position to qualify for the next round.

Our picks:

Manchester United vs FC Sheriff Tiraspol

Erik ten Hag will be pleased to turn the page on the Cristiano Ronaldo incident today with Manchester United’s #7 expected to play for the first time since the Newcastle game 10 days ago.

Manchester United will be in high spirits despite a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. A late goal from Brazilian defensive midfielder rescued the Red Devils from a surefire loss and kept morale up ahead of their crucial game against FC Sheriff tonight.

A draw is enough to ensure that the Red Devils progress to the next round, but they’ll be gunning for a win here to challenge Real Betis for first place in the group.

This game might be too soon for Cristiano Ronaldo to start but expect to see him come on at some point.

FC Sheriff are currently in 3rd place in the group and still have a slight chance of qualifying for the next round with a win here and another in the final group game. the odds are against them, but we expect them to come out and play like their lives depended on it.
