Tuesday UCL betting preview and tips

Almost three weeks after the last fixture, the UEFA Champions League returns tonight with several tasty fixtures lined up. As usual, we have previewed some of the teams and shared some odds you can bet on.

Here is our preview of five of tonight’s games:

Ajax vs Napoli

Want a chance to watch two of the best young attacking talents in Europe go head-to-head? Here’s your chance. Mohammed Kudus and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both possess that rarest of attributes that quickens the pulse as you watch them slalom past several defenders.

With Liverpool currently looking like a shadow of their usual imperious selves, this is an excellent opportunity for the visiting Neapolitans to claim three more points and solidify their grip on first place in Group A. Ajax are also level on points with the Merseyside giants. A home win, along with a Liverpool win would mean all three teams have 6 points each and leave the group delicately balanced heading into the last three group stage fixtures.

It’s hard to look beyond Napoli for this one due to the red-hot form they’re in. We think the away side will win but will hedge the bet with an “away team win/draw” bet.

Our picks:

Both teams to score @ 1.50

Napoli win/draw @ 1.65

A combo bet of 2X & over 1.5 @ 2.05

Liverpool vs Rangers

The Reds are in trouble, that much is known. How much trouble are they in? Well, we’ll find out after tonight. If they drop points to a Rangers team that has lost all their games so far, scoring a grand total of zero goals and conceding seven goals, Liverpool fans can begin to truly panic.

With Napoli looking like group winners already, Liverpool’s priority should be righting the ship with a win at Anfield. They have the personnel to do it but if they start the game like they did on Saturday, they will drop points again today.

This will be the third time the two teams have met. In the first two games, each team has one win and one loss. Liverpool will need to bump that up to two wins to avoid being left behind in Group A by Napoli and Ajax. Class always tells, we think Liverpool will right the ship with a win here.

Our picks:

Liverpool to win @ 1.17

over 2.5 goals @ 1.32.

Rangers have failed to score so far this UCL campaign, Liverpool will be desperate to keep it that way. Bet on “NG” @ 1.75

Inter Milan vs Barcelona

Rarely is the gulf between two elite European teams as wide as that between Barcelona and Inter Milan. In 11 games, the Blaugrana have 7 wins to Inter Milan’s solitary win. Both teams have split the points thrice, drawing three times.

Tonight, Barcelona will look to extend that dominant run by winning at the San Siro. Despite both teams being level on points in Group C, Barcelona are favorites for a reason. We’re backing the lethal Lewandowski to lead Barcelona to an away victory tonight.

Our picks:

Inter has lost four of their last six games. We’re backing Barcelona to win @ 1.83.

Bet on Barcelona to concede and still win with “2 + GG” @ 3.05

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham Hotspurs

After choking in spectacular fashion late against Sporting CP the last time around, Tottenham will be eager to win, silence the doubters and strengthen their hold on 2nd spot in Group D. To do that, however, they will need to beat a Frankfurt side that has recovered well from a disastrous start to the season to win their last three games compared to the visitors who have lost two of their last three games.

Frankfurt have the home advantage and the winning edge with their Europa League victory last season. Any team that fields the best partnership in EPL history –Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son cannot be discounted so we expect goals in this fixture. Lots of goals.

Our picks:

Both teams to score @ 1.60.

Over 2.5 goals @ 1.75.

Tottenham to win/draw @ 1.33.

Marseille vs Sporting CP

Despite the early season hope generated by the acquisition of several good players, fans familiar with Marseille will have been unsurprised at their faltering start to this UCL campaign. If the French club is to avoid an early exit from European football, they will need to get their act together soon.

That will be easier said than done, however. Their opponents today, Sporting CP, are the best club in Group D and will be eager to pick up another win today. We think Marseille will finally score their first UCL goal this season, but not have enough to beat Group D’s form team.

Our picks:

Both teams to score @ 1.73.

Sporting win/draw @ 1.63
