Summer Transfer Window 2022: Tracking the Latest Signings

The summer transfer window is in full swing, with some prominent names moving on from their clubs to take on new challenges. Two of the most prominent recent transfers include Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

The 36-year-old former Man City captain, Vincent Kompany resigned as Anderlecht’s head coach to take up a first manager position at Burnley. He took the reins from caretaker Mike Jackson, who failed to save the team from relegation after taking control from Sean Dyche in April.

During his days as the captain of Manchester City, Kompany had enjoyed a glamorous 11-year career, which included 4 English Premier League titles, 4 League Cups and 2 FA Cups. He has a great reputation, being known as one of the most eloquent and intelligent men in the world of football.

The Belgian’s move to Burnley might be a well-crafted path back to the Premier League and a chance to prove that he could manage Manchester City one day, where he has a statue standing outside the stadium. However, it won’t be an easy feat. While he undoubtedly has the right skills, time and resources may be luxuries Burnley cannot afford.

As for Robert Lewandowski, the Polish superstar has made it no secret that he’s looking for a fresh challenge. He’s currently Barcelona’s leading transfer target, with the club allegedly preparing a whopping €50 million bid for the legendary striker.

The 33-year-old ended Bayern Munich’s 2021/2022 campaign with 50 goals in 46 games but has made it public knowledge that he’s looking for a new start. The Blaugrana’s last bid of €32 million wasn’t enough to convince Bayern to let their ace goalscorer go. They will now be upping their offer to get the German club to reconsider their stance. This comes after the club sold a share of their assets to generate finances following an assembly vote.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona’s €50 million bid will be enough to convince Bayern to part ways with Lewandowski.
