BETKING CARES CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CAMPAIGN

At BetKing, we take our Corporate Social Responsibilities very seriously and make sure we engage our host communities regularly to find ways we can contribute to their larger well-being. Last month, we launched our Month of Good campaign tagged “BetKing Cares” in several communities and states across the country.

To implement the MOG campaign, we identified several communities that would benefit the most from our outreach in several Nigerian states and teamed up with the relevant NGOs to implement our outreach.

Our partners

Market Doctors: Market Doctors is a Nigerian medical NGO that provides affordable primary healthcare to the average Nigerian. They do this by operating a mobile retail clinic that can bring healthcare services right to the doorsteps of their patients.

We partnered with them to run Blood pressure and sugar measurement tests, malaria tests and free eye tests for Lagosians at select venues. We also provided free glasses and health kits to all those who signed up for the medical outreach.

Environmental cleanup: Africa Cleanup Initiative (ACI) is an environmental NGO that aims to promote environmental sustainability. We partnered with them to affect environmental change and identified several beaches as places that urgently need environmental intervention.

Our waterways are vital to our ecosystem and economy. By cleaning up these beaches, we hope to set an example to the larger public about what those beaches should look like.

Here’s what we did:

Lagos

To begin the Month of Good campaign, we teamed up with Market Doctors to provide medical services to several Lagos communities.

We kicked off the Lagos medical outreach in Surulere on the 20^th of April and continued the next day at Jakande Bus Stop, Ejigbo. We continued the medical outreach on the 17^th of May at Gbara Jakande, Lekki and concluded the Month of Good campaign on the 18^th of May with a last medical outreach at Pako bus stop, Surulere.

We also partnered with ACI to visit Elegushi beach, Okun-Ajah Beach and Alpha Beach to effect a beach cleanup at each of these locations.

Ibadan, Benin, Enugu, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Anambra.

We teamed up with Market Doctors once more to do medical outreach in specific locations throughout each of these states. We conducted the same tests as in Lagos, distributed free health kits, and provided free eyeglasses to individuals who required them.

Future plans

As Jane Lewis once said, “we have a social responsibility, a constitutional opportunity and a moral obligation to help others”.

Although the first phase of the “Month of Good” campaign has been concluded, subsequent phases are already being planned.

Our outreach efforts in Ghana and Nigeria have helped us identify the regions where we need to concentrate our efforts. To help with this, we’re hiring more people to assist us in our enhanced efforts to accomplish even more good.
