Inter Milan Vs Roma Coppa Italia Quarter Finals: Match Preview & Betting Predictions

Inter Milan Vs Roma

It promises to be a tasty Coppa Italia fixture as Inter Milan take on AS Roma at the San Siro today.

There is some history in this fixture; Roma Head Coach Jose Mourinho was Inter Milan’s manager in 2010, overseeing their all-conquering treble season before moving on to Real Madrid.

Inter have been the best team in Italy this season, and despite their loss to AC Milan over the weekend, many bookmakers will have them as the clear favorites in this match.
While this may be true, there are a number of other factors to consider before betting on this game, including:

Inter Milan vs AS Roma Head-to-Head Record
In total, both sides have met 63 times in all competitions with Inter Milan out ahead with 23 wins while the capital side has won 18 games. Both sides have split the points 23 times.

In the last ten games, it gets interesting. Over that period, Inter Milan has won three games to Roma’s solitary victory. The interesting bit is that they drew six games consecutively in that period.

Both sides already met once this season when Roma lost to Inter, 0-3 at the Stadio Olimpico in a December Serie A game.

Finally, Inter tops the Serie A table with 53 points while Roma is 14 points behind the leaders in 7th place.

Form Guide
Inter comes into this game in decent form. In the last five games, they’ve won three games, drawn one and lost to local rivals AC Milan last weekend. (Form: L-W-W-D-W)
Roma have had a tough start as Jose Mourinho has struggled to show the coaching nous he was once renowned for. In the last five games however, their form has stabilized as they have similar form to Inter with three wins, one draw and a loss. (Form: D-W-W-W-L)

Inter Milan vs AS Roma Team News
Eden Dzeko has been an excellent replacement for Romelu Lukaku, he’ll be the focal point of the home side’s attacks once again. Simone Inzaghi might choose to give Lautaro a rest so expect to see Alexis Sanchez partner the Bosnian for a large chunk of the game.

Ivan Perisic went off injured in the Derby but it has since been confirmed that he only had leg cramps. Still, expect Federico Dimarco to come in for the Croat at LWB. The rest of the side should remain unchanged as new signings Robin Gosens and Felipe Caicedo are still out injured.

Nicolò Zaniolo’s sending off might have been controversial, but the Italian forward will still miss this game, leaving Tammy Abraham as the lone striker today. There are no injured players except for Leonardo Spinazzola who has a long-term injury and is still out which means Mourinho can name his strongest possible XI.

Inter Milan vs AS Roma Match Prediction
While Mourinho still has a tremendous amount of goodwill at the San Siro, Inter will be itching to win and get back to winning ways immediately.

Roma will have a chance if Inter rests players to keep them fresh for their continental and domestic campaigns ahead but that’s a big “if.”

Our prediction: A narrow Inter Milan win.
Inter Milan win: 1.60
Draw: 4.00
AS Roma win: 5.00
