Matches to Look Forward to in the International Break

The international break is here, and football stars are headed to their national teams to help their team qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

For many football stars, the World Cup in Qatar will surely be the last for them. Ronaldo(36), Messi(34), Thiago Silva(36), Euro Cup winner Chiellini(37), and many others will certainly hang their boots for the national team after the World Cup next year. But first, they must get there. For other young stars such as Haaland(20), it is an opportunity to take their countries to glory at the World Cup and transform their individual talents and club accolades into legendary status with their home countries.

As international teams continue to vie for a place in Qatar, these are some of the matches to pay attention to, not just for the betting odds but for the sporting rivalry and intensity which the games are expected to bring.

Nigeria vs Central African Republic

Nigeria has won its first two World Cup qualification match and a win against the Central African Republic will give them one foot in Qatar. We envisage a dominant display from the Nigerian side over the two legs, the first with Nigeria playing at home on the 7th and CAR hosting Nigeria in the return leg on October 10th. Potentially Nigeria could seal a place in the World Cup with two wins over CAR. However, we’re backing the Super Eagles in the Over 2.5 market at 1.44 odds.

Turkey vs Norway

Turkey vs Norway is a crucial match for the qualification chances of both countries to the Qatar World Cup. Norway is currently second on the table separated only by goal difference from the Netherlands who both have 13 points, while Turkey is in third with 11 points. With the Netherlands having a relatively run of games vs Latvia and Gibraltar, they could well end this round of matches with 19 points and sit comfortably at the top of Group G while Turkey vs Norway take points off each other. Both teams to score at 1.67 odds is a great addition to your betting slip.

Paraguay vs Argentina

Paraguay is in danger of not qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar. With 11 points from 9 matches, they sit 6th on the log one place out of the qualification zone. A win over Argentina could bring them some respite but then they face Chile next which on paper could be an easy win for them. Argentina will be looking to close the gap against Brazil who leads the CONMEBOL qualification table. Paraguay to Win or Draw at 2.08 odds is one to back if you have a large risk appetite.

Finland vs Ukraine

Finland and Ukraine are both on 5 points in Group D where table-toppers France, are running away with it with 12 points. The battle for second place in this group will undoubtedly be between these two. On this one, we’re expecting a low-scoring match with a 1 – 0 win going to either side, but a BTTS market at 1.97 looks tasty enough for a bite.

England vs Hungary

England hasn’t lost a World Cup qualifying game in this round and before this game vs Hungary, they would have played Andorra and Hungary Albania. With only 6 points separating them, England(1st) vs Hungary(4th), Hungary will believe they have an outside chance at qualification in a group that also has Lewandowski’s Poland in it. We’re getting behind Hungary to win or draw against the Three Lions at 4.65 odds.

Venezuela vs Brazil

Venezuela’s chances at qualifying for the World Cup are all but non-existent. Brazil is expected to put forward a strong side and compete toe-to-toe with the bottom of the table Venezuela, to extend their position at the top of the CONMEBOL table. South American matches are always competitive with a no-holds-barred approach taken by the players, if anything, there will be pride to play for from the Venezuelan side. We’re backing the bookings market on this with the Over 4.5 spread at 1.65 odds.

Spain vs Italy

Spain goes against Italy in the first semi-final battle of the UEFA Nations League. European Champions will be looking to continue their fine form which has them unbeaten in 36 games. BetKing has a special market on this game and you can play it here.

Belgium vs France

The second UEFA Nations League semi-final is between Belgium and France, both teams with a talented crop of players will be looking to put behind the disappointment of the European Championship behind them and make an appearance in the final of this competition. We expect goals so we’re backing this game at 2.20 odds for over 2.5 goals.

Portugal vs Qatar

The one friendly match in this lineup of International Games to look forward to is between Portugal and World Cup hosts, Qatar. Ronaldo has broken and set a new record for international goals scored and this game is one that could see him add to that tally. Check out the Goal Scorer Specials to back Ronaldo to score at any time vs Qatar.
