Ahmed Musa joins the 100 Cap Club for Nigeria

Ahmed Musa in the World Cup qualifier made his 100th appearance for Nigeria, belonging to an elite club of players who have done so. The 28-year-old who currently plays for Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk after a spell with Nigerian Premier League club, Kano Pillars is fondly remembered for his two World Cup goals versus Argentina in 2014. Ahmed Musa futher endeared himself to fans scoring two goals against Iceland in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In his 100 appearances for the Nigerian Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa has scored 15 goals while on duty with the National Team, has an African Cup of Nations winners medal to his name.

Ahmed Musa made his debut in 2010 at the age of 17 under Coach Lars Lagerback in the AFCON 2012 Qualifier against Madagascar. Ahmed Musa scored his first goal for Nigeria in a friendly against Kenya in March 2011.

 

Joseph Yobo – 101 Caps

Former captain of the Nigerian National team, Joseph Yobo has 101 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Yobo played for Nigeria from his debut in 2001 to his retirement in 2014 and scored 7 goals in that period.

The defender led the National Team to continental glory at the African Cup of Nations in 2013. Yobo’s long career with the Super Eagles includes 3 World Cup appearances and 6 AFCON appearances. Yobo has the unpalatable record of marking his 100th appearance for Nigeria with an own-goal in the game vs France in the World Cup Round of 16 Match.

Despite that, Yobo is a player very much loved by Nigerian football fans and many look back with fond memories of his time with the team.

 

Vincent Enyeama – 101 Caps

Like Joseph Yobo, Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, former captain of the Nigeria Super Eagles has 101 appearances to his name. Enyeama who most notably played for French side Lille made his National Team debut in 2002 vs Kenya and made an appearance in the World Cup that year as a deputy to Ike Shorunmu. Vincent Enyeama was part of the squad that won the African Cup of Nations in 2013 and was deputy captain of the team, deputizing for Joseph Yobo. Vincent Enyeama made appearances in 3 World Cups for Nigeria, 1 Confederations Cup, and 4 African Cup of Nations tournaments. He retired in 2015.
